Located in Kingston Springs, Tennessee just outside of Nashville, Southern Precision Land Surveying, Inc. is owned and operated by Brian McCain, PLS. Mr. McCain started his land surveying career over 25 years ago, when he answered an advertisement for a “Rod Man” from a Nashville newspaper. He worked long hours to absorb everything he could about the land surveying business. He worked his way up from “Rod Man” to Survey Crew Chief and then went on to acquire his license for land surveying in the state of Tennessee. He became Project Manager, while working for a company in Nashville, Tennessee under the guidance of Mr. Erly J. Thornton of Thornton & Associates. During his time with Thornton & Associates, he honed his skills in all aspects of land surveying, including CAD work and putting projects to paper. In order to expand his horizons outside of Tennessee, Mr. McCain then went on to become licensed by the state of Alabama in 2006 and by the state of Kentucky in 2007. In 2011, an opportunity arose to work for PDC Consultants in Franklin, Tennessee as Survey Manager forming the land surveying department and performing aeronautic surveys for several airports in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. Seeking to fulfill his dream of owning his own land surveying business, Mr. McCain opened Southern Precision Land Surveying, Inc. in 2007. In an effort to expand on the services he provides, Mr. McCain has also acquired his certification for Certified Floodplain Surveyor and for Certified Floodplain Manager.
